The Early Childhood Development Association of PEI is a provincial non-profit organization that supports high-quality early childhood education across Prince Edward Island. We built MentorMe, a private social community that gives its members a place to communicate, build mentoring relationships, and support one another's professional development.

A Private Social Community

We built a social platform where ECDA members can ask questions, share knowledge, and learn from other early childhood educators. Members can create posts, participate in discussions, follow one another, save useful content, and interact through likes and replies.

Communities, hashtags, trending discussions, and personalized feeds make it easier to find relevant conversations. Members can also attach files and images, helping the platform support richer discussions and practical resource sharing.

Intelligent Mentor Matching

MentorMe includes a custom matching system that helps members find people with compatible professional backgrounds and development goals. The system calculates compatibility using career stage, learning style, communication preferences, and shared professional interests.

Members can search and filter potential mentors by the qualities that matter to them, including professional interests and region. Precomputed compatibility scores allow the platform to surface strong matches efficiently while also powering personalized suggestions throughout the community.

Shared Goals and Milestones

We developed a goal-tracking system that turns mentoring relationships into structured professional development. Members can create goals, break them into measurable milestones, update their progress, and add journal entries that document what they have learned.

Goals can be shared with another member, allowing mentors and mentees to follow progress and work toward an outcome together. Status tracking and due dates provide structure without making the process feel overly complicated.

Real-Time Communication and Scheduling

MentorMe provides private, real-time conversations so members can continue discussions outside the public social feed. The messaging system supports file sharing, shared goals, unread notifications, and safety controls such as muting, blocking, and reporting.

An integrated calendar helps members schedule meetings and other professional-development activities. Connections with Zoom, Google Meet, and Google Calendar make it easier for mentoring partners to plan sessions and keep their schedules synchronized.

Resources and Community Safety

We built a shared Resource Hub where approved materials can be organized into directories and made available to members. This gives educators a central place to find documents and other resources that support their ongoing work.

The platform also includes account verification, notifications, reporting workflows, and administrative moderation tools. These systems help ECDA maintain a private, useful, and respectful community for its members.
