TinyURL is a URL shortening service that turns long URLs into short, easy-to-remember links. We worked with TinyURL to develop several applications, including a new Vue.js 3 frontend, a team management system, and an abuse management platform for detecting and terminating malicious links created on their platform.
We replaced TinyURL's original application with a modern frontend architecture built using Vue.js 3 and TypeScript. The new application provides a more maintainable and scalable foundation for developing features while delivering a faster, more consistent experience for TinyURL's users.
Vite powers the development and build workflow, ESLint helps maintain consistent code quality, and Vitest provides fast, reliable automated testing. Together, these tools give the TinyURL team a streamlined development environment and the confidence to evolve the application over time.
We developed a new architecture that transformed TinyURL from a product designed for individual users into a collaborative platform for teams. Organizations can now bring multiple users into a shared workspace, allowing them to create, manage, and monitor links together.
The system provides a foundation for team membership, shared resources, and role-based access while preserving the simplicity of the original TinyURL experience. This architecture also gives TinyURL the flexibility to expand its collaborative features as the needs of teams evolve.
We built a Tensorflow based neural network that can be used to detect phishing websites within TinyURLs created by users.
At a high level, the system breaks each TinyURL link down into a series of classifications based on patterns and heuristics derived from known phishing websites and malicious links added to TinyURL in the past.
This data is then fed into a neural network to be analyzed by a series of hidden layers. If the neural network determins that the link is malicious, it will be flagged for human intervention.
We built an abuse management platform for TinyURL that allows them to detect and terminate malicious links created by their users.
This platform is a Laravel based site that will automatically detect suspicious links and flag them for human intervention.
The human user can then use this data to terminate malicious links and ban users who created them.
